Is it Important for Students to Know Their Learning Style?

I believe it is important for educators to understand how learning styles impact their delivery and facilitation techniques. First and foremost is an awareness of how their preferences figure into their delivery.

However, as long as the educator is aware of their student's style preferences, is it necessary for the learner to know and understand their preferences?

I'd like to hear your thoughts on this.
